With a record time of construction, within only one year, Nam Dinh Vu Port (phase 1) with the size of more than 20ha and two berths of around 450m long invested by Gemadept Corporation in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Zone, Hai Phong was completed and officially welcomed the first vessel call on 4 February 2018.
In the joyful atmosphere welcoming the spring of 2018, representatives of Gemadept’s Management, partners and authorities including border guards, customs officers, etc and Gemadept’s staffs at Hai Phong welcomed M/V Warco Carp of Hasco first calling at Nam Dinh Vu Port. In the ceremony welcoming the vessel, captain and crew members, port representatives expressed their sincere thanks to the carrier for valuable trust and support right in the port’s initial days of operation.
After the welcome ceremony, handling operation was quickly deployed as scheduled using 2 QCs and 5RTGs (the Port has total 4 modern QCs and 6 RTGs). All 388 TEUs of inbound cargo and 337 TEUs of outbound cargo have been released safely and smoothly, faster than expected progress. Accordingly, the crane productivity in the first day of operation was quite high, over 41 moves per hour.
Upon its operation commencement, Nam Dinh Vu Port has become Gemadept’s 3rd port in Hai Phong region and 6th port from North to South. With 3 ports of various scales and being located at convenient locations in Hai Phong namely Nam Hai Port, Nam Hai Dinh Vu Port and Nam Dinh Vu Port, Gemadept's port group is quite confident to offer shipping lines various options with multiple and good quality services.
It can be said that the welcome of first vessel call from Hasco Shipping at Nam Dinh Vu Port has become a bright milestone when 2017, a successful year of Gemadept Hai Phong, has gone through and a new year has just begun promising a new development period which will be the basis for Gemadept to continue with Phase 2 of the project, adding 2 more berths, right in Q.2/2018 to put the port into operation by 2019, contributing to a significant change in Gemadept’s port operation position not only in Hai Phong but also in the whole country.
